VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” participated in the theatrical concert “I am that – Samogitia”

On 24th of September, VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” (headmaster – Jolanta Kisielytė-Sadauskienė, choreographer – Loreta Putvinskaitė-Vičienė, chormaster – Vilius Tavoras, orchestra director – Arvydas Jankus) and other dance ensembles of Vilnius, participated in the theatrical concert “I am that – Samogitia”. The concert took place at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.

The event was dedicated to commemorate the Samogitian Year – 800 years since the first time Samogitian name was mentioned.

VMU mixed choir AVE VITA performed at the event of Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists

On the 8th of October, the 30th anniversary of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists was held at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design. The event was opened by VMU Education Academy mixed choir AVE VITA.

The choir shared their music with The Association of Lithuanian Industrialists.

Free dance classes for VMU students

VMU Ballroom Dance group invites students to attend free dance classes:

  • Solo latino lessons for women’s (salsa, cha-cha, bachata, rumba, samba, jive)

Classes are held on Thursdays, 17.30. From 17th and 24th of October.

  • Salsa, bachata and merenge lessons for couples

Classes are held on Wednesdays, 19:00. From 2nd and 9th of October.

Dance classes take place in Vytautas Magnus University dormitory “Baltija” (Vytauto pr. 71, Kaunas).

VMU students are requires to register for classes on the student portal.

Registration for arts activities has started

We invite students of Vytautas Magnus university, who are studying in Kaunas, to register for  arts activities of Autumn semester 2019/2020, organized by  VMU Arts Centre.

All students of VMU are welcomed to join sports and arts activities regardless of where they are studying (e.g. students of law may join mixed gender choir „Daina“ of VMU Agriculture Academy).

All activities for VMU students are free. Students can register for several activities.

Registration for arts activities

REGISTRATION: Students who are willing to dance, sing or play instruments at one of VMU Arts Centre artistic groups in Vilnius, Kaunas or Akademija (Kaunas District) has to register for activities by logging into the Students Self-service portal. In the section “Registration“/„Arts Centre activities”, student has to choose a preferred artistic group and press the button “Enrol”.

All of the activities to which student has enrolled will be shown in Student Self-Service Portal http://studentas.vdu.lt in the upper side of the section “Registration“/„Arts Centre activities”. Students may enrol and withdraw out of the activities organized by artistic groups of the Arts Centre.

After the enrolment to the activities you should start to attend it as soon as possible, on the time which is indicated in the registration form. If you are looking for a reminder of your activities, you may look for it by logging into the students self-service portal in the section “Registration“/ „Arts Centre activities”.

VMU folklore ensemble “Linago” participated in International Intangible Cultural Heritage festival “Lauksnos”

On 11-14 of July, VMU folklore ensemble “Linago” participated in International intangible cultural heritage festival “Lauksnos”. This festival is a unique event in Lithuania, representing traditional cultural elements protected by UNESCO: traditional oral, musical culture and folk art masterpieces of nations.

This festival invite people to familiarize themselves with the values included by UNESCO intangible cultural heritage protection lists in various spaces and forms: concerts, demonstrations, workshops, meetings, presentations, film screenings, exhibitions and so on. “Lauksnos” has been granted the patronage of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO.

The festival featured attendees from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and Ukraine.

VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble „Šviesa“ participated in the Folk music festival „Belgrade award“

On 1-8th of July VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble „Šviesa“ (art director Jolanta Kisielytė-Sadauskienė, choreographer Raminta Čyplytė, folk instrument leader Arvydas Jankus, choir master Vilius Tavoras) participated in the 7th International Folk music festival „Belgrade award“ in Belgrade, Serbia. VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble „Šviesa“ was awarded for the best performance.

On 6st of July, members and directors gathered in a picturesque area on the Belgrade fortress hill, and joined the „Tautiška giesmė aplink pasaulį“ initiative.

VMU academic choir „Vivere Cantus“ won two gold diplomas

VMU academic choir „Vivere Cantus“  participated in the 54th Choir Song Contest in Miedzyzdroje, Poland. Representatives of our university have won two gold diplomas is „Music sacra“ and modern music categories and special prize.

VMU Education Academy choir „Ave Vita“ participated in the song festival „Dainų dainelė“

On 15th of June, song festival „Dainų dainelė“ took place in the Great Valley of Zarasai lake. More than 50 choirs ,including VMU Education Academy choir „Ave Vita“, appeared in the festival.

The repertoire of the song festival featured works by Juozas Naujalis, a pioneer, composer and conductor of Lithuanian music.

VMU mixed choir “Ave Vita” participated in the international choir festival in Greece

On 7-11 of June, VMU Education Academy mixed choir “Ave Vita” participated in the 31st international choir festival in Kifissia, Greece. “Ave Vita” were the only representatives of Lithuania. VMU choir had two solo performances and one joint performance with a mixed choir of Kifissia.

VMU collectives appeared at Kaunas song and dance festival

On 1st of June traditional event – song and dance festival “Lietuva Brangi” was held in Kaunas. 94 collectives and other well-known Lithuanian soloists appeared in the spectacular event. A lot of ensembles of VMU had performed in this event: VMU Chamber Choir for Girls (head: Viktoras Masevičius), VMU mixed choir “Vivere Cantus” (head: Rolandas Daugėla), VMU Agriculture Academy mixed choir “Daina” (head: Ramunė Navickienė), VMU Education Academy mixed choir “Ave Vita” (head: Kastytis Barisas), VMU Agriculture Academy folk dance ensemble “Sėja” (head: Idalija Braškytė), VMU Agriculture folk music chapel “Ūkininkas” (head: Romualdas Sadzevičius).

This year festival was named of famous Lithuanian professional music patriarchs Juozas Naujalis, who was the head of the first song and dance festival.
