VMU folklore ensemble “Linago” contributes to the initiative #kartudainose

Today in social media we see a lot of videos from hospitals, apartment yards or balconies where people dance, play music and sing, thus connecting us all. Members of VMU folklore ensemble “Linago” do not live in one yard, but live in one ensemble, therefore they join musicians.

Festival AVANTI is canceled

In response to the government’s decision on Quarantine at the State, we have to make the difficult decision that is necessary for our safety – we are canceling the AVANTI festival, which was scheduled for March 16 – April 4.

We will do our best to postpone the concerts.

Arts Centre Restrictions Due to Prevention of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As we are constantly monitoring the most recent information and taking into consideration the recommendations by the Ministry of Health, the National Public Health Center under the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, as well as the recommendations by the World Health Organisation and the practices by other institutions of higher education around the world, all of them working to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we would like to inform you about the new policy effective from March 12 at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU).

From 16th until 27th of March, all the activities of the Arts Centre collectives are suspended until the study process is stopped.

All international and local events and concerts that are dedicated not just to VMU community are cancelled until 15 May (information shall be updated if there are any changes in the situation).

VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” participated in Vilnius Book Fair

On 21st of February, Vytautas Magnus University Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” (artistic director – dr. Jolanta Kisielytė-Sadauskienė, conductor of folk instruments orchestra – Arvydas Jankus, choreographer – Loreta Putvinskaitė-Vičienė, chorus master – doc. dr. Vilius Tavoras) participated in Vilnius Book Fair, in the hall of Lithuanian culture centers.

This year, for the first time, a similar cultural center hall was set up next to the music hall. In the hall of Lithuanian culture centers active cultural activities of cities and towns were introduced, also meetings, discussions, performances by various professional and amateur art groups were represented.

VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” participated in festive concerts to commemorate the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania

On 15-16 of February, Vytautas Magnus University Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” participated in festive concerts to commemorate the Day of Restoration of the State of Lihuania.

On 15th of February, ensemble held a concert to the community of Giedraičiai town in Molėtai district – they held a concert in Giedraičiai A. Jaroševičiaus gymnasium, where they were welcomed very warmly.

On 15th of February, at the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art gymnasium dance theater, the ensemble choir, orchestra and dancers, together with other folk music collectives of Vilnius city, participated in the concert of Vilius city song and dance ensembles.

The concert program of “Žilvitis” on February 16th

On 16th of February, 14:00, VMU folk dance group “Žilvitis” will organize a concert program, dedicated to commemorate the restoration of Lithuanian’s Independence. The concert will take place at VMU Great Hall (S. Daukanto str. 28, Kaunas).

“Žilvitis” invites everyone who is indifferent to Lithuanian dance traditions to celebrate together. The event is free of charge.

Folk dance ensemble “Žilvitis” was founded in 1957 and became the most famous ensemble of this genre in Lithuania. The ensemble organizes concert programs for audiences in Lithuania and abroad, regularly participates in World Lithuanian Song Festivals, foreign and Lithuanian festivals and projects.

 

Registration for Arts Activities for Spring Semester 2019/2020 has started

We kindly invite students of Vytautas Magnus university, who are studying in Kaunas, Vilnius or Akademija (Kaunas district) to register for arts activities for Spring semester 2019/2020, that are organized by VMU Arts Centre.

All students of VMU are welcomed to join arts activities regardless to their study majors (e. g. students of law may join mixed choir “Daina” of VMU Agriculture Academy).

All activities for VMU students are free-of-charge. Students can register for several activities at once.

Registration for Arts Activities

Students who are willing to perform, dance, sing or play instruments at one of VMU Arts Centre artistic groups in Vilnius, Kaunas or Akademija (Kaunas District) has to register for activities by logging into http://studentas.vdu.lt. In the sector “Registration” > “Arts Centre activities”, student has to choose a preferred artistic group and click on the button “Enroll”.

  • Folk-dance ensemble “Žilvitis”
  • VMU Solo latino dance group
  • VMU Ballroom dance studio

  • VMU ŠA Mixed Choir “Ave Vita”

All of the activities to which students has enrolled will be shown in http://studentas.vdu.lt in the upper side of the section “Registration” > “Arts Centre activities”. Students may enroll and withdraw out of the activities organized by artistic groups of the Arts Centre at any time of the semester.

After the enrollment to the activities you should tart to attend it as soon as possible, on the schedule which is indicated in the registration form. VMU Education Academy ensemble “Šviesa” organized folk party for participants of Lithuanian language and culture courses

On 9th of January, Vytautas Magnus University Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa” organized a folk party for participants of Lithuanian language and culture courses. The participants of the course taught some traditional Lithuanian folk dances, also ensemble “Šviesa” members introduced them to Lithuanian folk instruments. The participants of the course also tested the possibilities of Lithuanian folk instruments and shared their impressions.
