The Capital-Shaking Festival “Linksminkimos” Brought Together Hundreds of Students
For two days, the student festival “Linksminkimos” filled the capital with music, smiles, and the vibrant whirl of folk sounds – and now it has come to an end!
Bringing together as many as five hundred singing, dancing, and music-making students from Lithuanian higher education institutions, the event offered audiences not only the charm of tradition but also the freshness of contemporary ideas. Throughout the festival, the capital was alive with the bright colors of national costumes, youthful energy, and sincere creativity – each performance becoming a small celebration in itself, reminding everyone of a living and constantly evolving folk culture.
This year, three collectives from the VMU Arts Center actively participated in the festival: the VMU Education Academy song and dance ensemble “Šviesa,” the VMU Agriculture Academy folk dance group “Sėja,” and the VMU Agriculture Academy folk music band “Ūkininkas.” They not only contributed to the impressive festival program but also received especially warm support from the audience, proving that the VMU community nurtures and spreads folk traditions with enthusiasm and respect.
“Linksminkimos” once again confirmed that young people are perfectly capable of combining ancient traditions with modern ideas, and that shared creativity and music create a unique sense of community – the very heart of this festival.
