VMU folk-dance ensemble “Žilvitis” was in Croatia

VMU folk-dance ensemble “Žilvitis” went to Croatia to represent lithuanian traditions.  The main concert was held on the open air in the Zadar Town Hall Square. The concert program of “Žilvitis”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lithuania’s Independence, was presented to the crowded local residents and guests of the city. Lithuanians introduced coats with their dances and songs, and the most traditional instrument – kanklės.

During the trip, the ensemble visited not only Croatia, but also the capital of Austria and the Polish city of Krakow. In the future, the ensemble is planning to participate in more than one event, and now intensive preparations are underway for a fast-moving upcoming centennial Song Festival and the Baltic Student Festival “Gaudeamus”, which will take place in Estonia
